Lookout Mountain | Framed
Golden’s favorite climb, drawn line by line. Framed and ready to hang.
Start at the Pillars. Wind up two sets of switchbacks past the School of Mines “M,” catch your breath at Windy Saddle, and finish at the turnoff to Buffalo Bill’s grave with the plains spread out below. Hard enough to earn the view, friendly enough to come back.
What’s on the map
The full route, color-coded by grade, so you know where it bites
Elevation profile with the landmarks you’ll pass
Five Colorado climbs drawn to the same scale: Lookout, Flagstaff, Cheyenne Canyon, Maroon Bells, and Rist Canyon. Good for planning, better for arguments.
Water, restrooms, parking, view points, and coffee stops, including Et Voilà French bakery just past the top
Paved roads, bike paths, trails, and roads to avoid
Distance and elevation gain, in miles and kilometers
Frame
Choose wood, black, or white. Arrives ready to hang.
For the rider on your list
If they’ve climbed Lookout, they’ll hang it. If they haven’t yet, they’ll want to after seeing it. Framed means no trip to the frame shop. You’re welcome.
